Description
Moussaka is a traditional Greek dish. Here we have a Bulgarian version of this classic. This hearty and comforting dish is perfect for a family dinner or special occasion and is sure to become a favorite in any household.
Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 lb potatos
  • 1 onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cup greek yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper
Instructions
  1. 1

Peel and dice the onion, carrots, and potatoes.

  2. 2

Heat up the oil in a large pot. Add the onion and carrot cook until they soften, then add the beef.

  3. 3
When the beef is browned add the tomatoes (you can add a pinch of sugar as sugar cuts the acidity of the tomatoes and creates a more balanced flavor).
  4. 4

Add the potatoes and enough water to cover them (around 2 cups).

  5. 5

While waiting on the potatoes to cook preheat the oven to 400F/200C. In a bowl mix the eggs and yoghurt.

  6. 6

When the potatoes are cooked transfer the moussaka to a baking dish. Bake until the water evaporates.

  7. 7

Pour the yoghurt mixture on top and bake until golden.

  8. 8

Serve hot topped with more yoghurt. Enjoy!
